Jun 25, 2023    Oluseye Ashiru

Hey there, welcome to Week 6 of our awesome Thrive Devotional Series!

We hope you had a fantastic break and took some time to relax and catch up on our Thrive study series last week.

This week, we're wrapping up our chat on Accountability and why it's so important for our growth and overall thriving in every area of life.

Last time, we kicked off the accountability series by talking about being accountable to yourself. After all, you're the star player in your own life!

In this episode, we're taking it up a notch by diving into the significance of being accountable to others, like your peers, mentors, and coaches. Plus, we'll touch on accountability to God too!

The Scriptures have plenty to say about these different levels of accountability. Check out these gems:

Romans 14:12: "So then each of us will give an account of himself to God."

1 Thessalonians 5:11: "Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing."

Proverbs 27:17: "Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another."

Isn't it cool to see how the Scriptures inspire us to love and live our best lives together?

Let's start by talking about why accountability to others is so important:

1. Supercharge your performance: When you know others are holding you accountable, you kick it into high gear. Studies show that when you publicly share your goals, you have a 65% chance of success. But with a specific accountability partner? Bam! Your chances skyrocket to a whopping 95%!

2. Honest feedback, baby: Just as you're dedicated to your goals, your accountability partner should be committed to giving you honest feedback, both the good stuff and the constructive criticism you need to grow.

3. Stay on that success track: Having an accountability partner keeps you focused and boosts your productivity. With this support system, you're less likely to get distracted from your goals.

4. Stay grounded like a pro: Accountability helps you reinforce your goals regularly. It keeps you from getting too carried away and helps you stay down-to-earth, even when the day-to-day grind feels a bit mundane. Your partner keeps you present and helps you achieve those short-term victories.

Now, how do you choose the perfect accountability partner? Here are some tips:

- Find someone who's got rock-solid self-discipline.

- Opt for an objective partner, not a close friend or family member.

- Choose someone you admire and want to impress.

- Define your goals, plan, and how you'll share and measure progress together.

- Develop a growth plan and timeline hand-in-hand with your accountability partner.

When it comes to accountability to God, it's kinda like being accountable to yourself. Once we understand that we answer to God and aim to please Him with our lives and decisions, our paths become aligned with His desires.

Being accountable to God means we keep our word and walk in uprightness. It's about being people of integrity and sticking to our commitments.

So, how will you choose to be accountable to God and others? How can we make decisions that help us thrive?

Let's wrap this up with a prayer: Lord, we want to live holy lives that bring honor to You. We desire to make an impact and bear fruit as we thrive. Please give us the grace to be accountable to ourselves, to one another, and to You in all things. May our lives always reflect Your acceptance and love. Amen.

Keep shining and thriving, my friends! You're doing incredible things!
