Speak Words of Life
“Words kill, words give life; they’re either poison or fruit—you choose.”
Proverbs 18:21 MSG
Choose to Speak Life
Sam Adeyemi, a Leadership Coach and one of Nigeria’s foremost Church ministers, once said this in one of his many sermons. He said: “What goes into a mind comes out in a life.”
In essence, what you daily speak into your child’s mind is what you will see play out in his life tomorrow.
The words of a parent can either build or break a child. Imagine a child used to hearing that he is dull and slow, what do you think will start to happen to that child’s emotion and self-esteem.
Death can be found in our words and life-giving hope can be found in your words as well. You speak death when you say negative words and make careless utterances into your child’s life.
I remember hearing a mother say to her little child – “I gave birth to you; I will kill you and nothing will happen”. I was in shock at her words and was wondering what a child could do to make a mother utter such words.
The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences. Proverbs 18:21 NLT
What words are you speaking to your children?
The words you speak over your children will always have consequences. Make up your mind to always speak life-giving words to your child all the time.
Speak progress when it looks like they are slow. Speak wisdom even when they make foolish decisions. Speak peace amid chaos. Speak into their future what you desire to see.
Learn to choose your words even when your children make you upset.
May our words continue to give life to our children all the days of their lives.
Prayer Moment
Father, help me to choose the words that I speak to my children wisely. Let my words over my children be a life-giving fountain of hope, success, peace, prosperity and good health.
May I never be found breaking my children emotionally, psychologically and mentally with my words.
Holy Spirit, I ask that you help me to guard my words and utterances over my children.
I will continually speak life and progress into the life of my children. Amen!
