Sexual Intimacy in Marriage
“And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed or embarrassed’.”
– Exodus 35:30-31
Sexual intimacy in marriage is God’s idea. It started in Eden, and it is applicable in the present world. God designed sexual intimacy to take place within the context of marriage and must be done so. Do not forget the purpose of God for sexual intimacy is protection, procreation, pleasure, oneness and generosity.
The scripture for today says that the man and woman were naked and not ashamed or embarrassed and so sexual intimacy affords the opportunity for couples to see deeply into each other without shame. It also affords couple the opportunity to avoid sexual sin.
God’s will for marriage is that sexual intimacy would be abundant and powerful with each spouse serving each other without reserves. We must not shy away from this beautiful gift from God but rather embrace it.
Should there be any challenge in this area, speak with your spouse about it, speak to a Christian counselor about it so you can get help. God wants you to enjoy this gift fully.
Father, help me to embrace your own idea of sexual intimacy. May I and my spouse in oneness serve each other in love. Amen
