Week 2: Day 10

Reading: Genesis 16-17

Memory Verse:

“I am God Almighty; walk before me faithfully and be blameless.” — Genesis 17:1 (NIV)

Devotional:

Today’s reading reveals the tension between God’s promises and human impatience. Sarai, feeling discouraged by the delay in God’s promise, suggests that Abram have a child with Hagar. This decision, however, brings heartache and tension within the family. Despite their missteps, God remains steadfast. In Genesis 17, He renews His covenant with Abram, renaming him Abraham and promising him a son through Sarah. Here, God’s message to Abraham is one of faithfulness: to walk blamelessly and trust that God’s promises are sure.

As mothers, we often feel the urge to step in, fix, or speed up certain outcomes in our families, especially when waiting on God seems hard. But God’s call to Abraham to “walk before me faithfully” reminds us that He desires our trust and obedience over our control. His timing and plans are infinitely wiser than our own.

Today, consider areas where you may be struggling to wait on God. Ask Him to help you trust His promises and timing, knowing that He is always working for your good and for the good of your family.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your faithfulness, even when I struggle to wait. Help me to trust You fully and to walk before You with a heart of obedience and patience. Remind me that Your plans for me and my family are always good. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
