Day 27: From Grief to God’s Greater Plan

In Genesis 50, we see the closing of an era with the death of Jacob, and the mourning of his passing by his sons. Joseph’s words to his brothers are incredibly powerful—“You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives” (Genesis 50:20). This statement beautifully captures the heart of God’s sovereignty in the midst of human brokenness.

Joseph’s journey was long and filled with suffering, betrayal, and waiting. Yet, despite all the hardship, Joseph trusted that God was in control of his life, bringing about His greater purposes. As he looked back, he saw how the pain of his past was part of God’s good plan, even when it seemed unclear in the moment.

Similarly, Exodus 1 introduces us to the new generation of Israelites, living in Egypt. While they were flourishing in number, they were also oppressed by a Pharaoh who didn’t know Joseph. Their lives were filled with hardship, but even in this time of affliction, God’s plan was in motion, preparing to raise up a leader in Moses who would lead them to freedom.

As moms, we know that life often brings seasons of grief, loss, or difficulty. Whether we’re facing struggles in our families, health, relationships, or calling, it’s easy to wonder how any of it fits into God’s plan. But just like Joseph’s story and the Israelites' journey, we are invited to trust that God is using every part of our story to fulfill His greater purposes. Even in our pain, He is present, working behind the scenes for good.

Reflection Questions:

✨ Have you experienced moments where you’ve seen God bring good out of difficult circumstances?

✨ How can you trust that God is using your current struggles for a greater purpose?

✨ What are ways you can remind yourself of God’s faithfulness, even in seasons of grief or uncertainty?

Prayer for the Day:

Father, thank You for the reminder that You are always in control, even when life feels hard or uncertain. Help me to trust You like Joseph did, knowing that You can take my pain and turn it into something good. I surrender my plans to You, trusting that Your ways are higher than mine. Strengthen my faith as I wait for Your greater purposes to unfold. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Today, let’s hold onto the truth that God’s plan is always greater than we can imagine, even when we’re in the midst of challenges. 💛
