Day 29: Overcoming Doubt with God’s Assurance

In Exodus 4 and 5, Moses continues to wrestle with doubts and fears about his calling. Despite God’s clear commission, Moses is reluctant. He questions his own abilities and the people’s willingness to listen. He asks, “What if they don’t believe me or listen to me?” (Exodus 4:1). But God responds with undeniable signs to show His power and the truth of Moses' mission. God provides Moses with miracles, such as the staff turning into a serpent and his hand becoming leprous and then healed, as proof that He is with him.

Even in his doubts, Moses is given assurances, but he still hesitates. He asks, “O Lord, please send someone else” (Exodus 4:13). Yet, God gently but firmly assures him, saying that He will be with him, and Moses' brother Aaron will help him speak to the people. God's patience with Moses shows us that He doesn’t expect perfection or immediate confidence; instead, He meets us in our hesitation and helps us grow in faith.

Moses’ reluctance is a reminder that doubt is a natural response when faced with big challenges or unknowns. As moms, we can often feel inadequate for the tasks ahead—whether it’s balancing our responsibilities, guiding our children, or following God’s call in our lives. But like Moses, we must remember that God equips those He calls. When we feel unsure of our abilities, God is there to provide the strength and assurance we need.

In Exodus 5, when Moses and Aaron first approach Pharaoh, things don’t go as planned. The Israelites’ situation worsens, and Moses questions whether he made the right decision to step out in faith. But even when things seem to get harder, God is still working behind the scenes. His timing is perfect, and He is orchestrating a greater plan that will unfold in His perfect time.

Reflection Questions:

✨ In what areas of your life do you feel doubtful or unqualified?

✨ How can you lean on God’s assurances and trust that He will provide what you need to move forward?

✨ When things get harder after taking a step of faith, how can you remind yourself that God is still working behind the scenes?

Prayer for the Day:

Lord, thank You for Your patience with me in my doubts and fears. Help me to trust that You will equip me for the tasks You’ve called me to, even when I feel inadequate. When challenges arise, remind me that Your plans are always greater than my own. Strengthen my faith and help me move forward with confidence in Your power and presence. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Today, remember that God doesn’t call us to a life free from difficulty but to a life of faith in His ability to work through us, no matter our doubts. Trust in His plan—He is always with you. 💛
