Week 2: Day 9- Genesis 15

Scripture Reading: Genesis 15

Devotional Focus: God’s Covenant with Abraham

In Genesis 15, we witness a defining moment in Abraham’s relationship with God. Abraham had received a promise that he would become the father of many nations, yet he was still childless and waiting for that promise to come true. In this chapter, God reassures Abraham, inviting him to look at the stars and trust that his descendants will be just as numerous.

In an extraordinary act of grace, God establishes a covenant with Abraham, a binding promise of His faithfulness. The ritual of the covenant shows God’s commitment to fulfilling His word, no matter how long the waiting period. Abraham believed God, and it was “credited to him as righteousness” (Genesis 15:6). This chapter reminds us that faith sometimes means trusting in God’s promises despite what we see or feel.

Reflection:

Genesis 15 calls us to trust in God’s promises, even when fulfillment seems distant or unlikely. Are there promises God has spoken to your heart that you’re still waiting to see come to pass? Take encouragement from Abraham’s story and remember that God is faithful to keep His word.

Prayer for the Day:

Lord, thank You for Your faithfulness and for the promises You have given me. Help me to hold on to Your word with faith, even when I cannot see how it will be fulfilled. Strengthen my trust in You, and remind me that Your timing is perfect. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
